Born in Berkeley, California he studied avant-garde composition and electronic music at Mills College under legendary composer Luciano Berio and teamed up with friend Jerry Garcia's band, the Warlocks. The Warlocks morphed into the Grateful Dead and the long, strange trip began for Lesh and the other Dead members.
