Berkeley's Kaleidoscope was the first band to fully integrate non-Western music and pop. It produced some of the first antiwar songs within the emerging counterculture and was known in the late sixties for eclectic albums that drew from bluegrass, blues, Cajun music, Middle Eastern music and acid rock, using various exotic instruments.
