Joel Elrod began designing concert posters for Bill Graham Presents in 1996, a year after he moved to San Francisco. His complex, compelling line drawings reflect his emphasis in illustration at Northern Arizona University, where he earned his B.F.A. in 1993. Elrod's portfolio includes work for Elvis Costello, Jack Johnson, X and Phish, and his BGP posters for Korn, Willie Nelson, Weezer and David Byrne have been accepted into Print's Regional Design annuals. Elrod has acknowledged that the freedom of expression afforded him as a young poster artist encouraged him to express his opinions through his art on contemporary political, environmental and social issues.
