On the other hand, most critics will agree that as a solo artist given free reign over his work, Beck has been less consistent. One thing is for sure: Jeff Beck is one of the most skilled guitar players around, wide open to musical experiment, and his early work foreshadowed a number of genres including over-the-top blues/rock, fusion and metal. "Finding ways to use the same guitar people have been using for 50 years to make sounds that no one has heard before is truly what gets me off. I love it when people hear my music but can't figure out what instrument I'm playing. What a cool compliment," Beck has said. If those are his musical goals, he has certainly achieved them....less
