Founded in British Columbia by brothers Roger and Mike Fisher [with Steve Fossen] in the early '60s, the band was joined by Seattle sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson in the early '70s and has a enjoyed a long and highly successful run with the women at the core of an excellent, and flexible, lineup. By 1978, keyboardist Howard Leese and drummer Michael Derosier were on board, and releases like "Dreamboat Annie" and "Little Queen" had captured headlines and sales records in Canada and the States, in that order. Often called "... One of the defining bands of R and R," Heart has produced over a dozen albums that included multiple top singles like "Barracuda" and "Crazy on You" and taken a few hiatuses which weren't breaks from music at all but time-outs for independent ventures like Wilson band Lovemongers, film scores and a solo album [Nancy]. Reconstituted and now featuring the Wilsons plus Mike Inez, Craig Bartock, Ben Smith, Darain Sahanaja, Mike McCready and Jerry Cantrell, Heart released "Jupiters Darling" in 2004, a complex, finely-woven tapestry that may be the band's best effort yet.
