The country-rock outlet Clover was born in Mill Valley, California in 1967. Although Clover played venues like the Avalon and Fillmore, they were never really recognized as part of the San Francisco Sound and puttered around in the late '60s and early '70s, leaving their Fantasy record label in '71. It wasn't until '76 that Clover moved to England to launch a new career touring with bands like Graham Parker And The Rumour, Thin Lizzy and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The one-two punch of failing to find their audience and the rising punk movement knocked out the band's chance at fame. Clover members went on to bigger and better things however; John McFee joined the Doobie Brothers and Huey Lewis, along with Sean Hopper, went on to form Huey Lewis and the News....less
