A fan of blues and folk, Raitt and her slide guitar found the time to find their way into coffeehouses in between classes. Leaving college after three years to pursue her muse, Raitt was soon opening for blues giants like Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Sippie Wallace. The soulful red-head recorded a handful of albums throughout the '70s but hit a career high point with albums Nick of Time and Luck of the Draw in the early '90s.
