Their self-titled debut album was released in December 1976, and with their second album Plastic Letters in October 1977, the band expanded into a sextet. This album and their subsequent third album Parallel Lines broke the band into mainstream success with a string of top 10 hits in both the U.K. and the States. Blondie’s next several records helped to establish the group as a lasting force, and incorporated elements from the pop, punk, new wave, disco and hip hop genres. Blondie broke up in 1982 when guitarist Chris Stein became seriously ill with a genetic skin disease, and Harry launched a solo career while caring for him. In 1998, the original lineup of Blondie reunited for a European tour and released another album, No Exit the following year. Blondie continues to record and tour and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in '06....less
