Anthony Pidgeon has taken a talent for composition and the gift of anticipation to a high plane of photographic excellence. Shooting rock concerts since the late 1980s, when he covered all aspects of the shows for his college newspaper in San Diego, Pidgeon's career includes concert, portrait, photojournalism, travel, venue and themed-series projects. His work reveals an affinity for color, tone and feeling that transcends his subjects and can wrest emotion from a building as easily as from a singer, still life or politician. After moving to San Francisco in 1992, Pidgeon took up freelancing and has done work for Rolling Stone, Spin, Mojo, E!Entertainment, the San Francisco Weekly, Urban View and other regional and national publications where his assignments include both the lively and the inanimate. Since 1997, Pidgeon has been house photographer for Bill Graham Presents, and his love for travel and eye for the unusual has led to his images of Israel, Peru and Amsterdam featured in over a dozen Lonely Planet guidebooks and to his selection as primary photographer for Planet's upcoming Best of San Francisco guide.
