Concert Summary

This show, by Angel, was recorded in 1976 for the King Biscuit Flower Hour while the band was promoting its second LP, Helluva Band. Angel innovated a hard-rock sound that, with a healthy dose of androgyny, found a niche in between 70s hard prog rock and 80s hair metal. The group had released its debut LP, Angel, the year prior on Neil Bogart's Casablanca Records.

The band was financed by the mega-millions that Casablanca made on Kiss (in its early make-up years) and band members were presented in matching white outfits, an 'angelic' contrast to the hellish hues of…entire summary

This here rocks!!! I always thought their live album really sounded bad. But this here live sounds great. I've been listening to angel from day one. Got all thier c.d."\s (and albums too for us old timers). I recomend them all, Sinful is somewhat top 40ish. Yhey were dying to get a hit off that album. not a bad c.d. but it just insn't angel. yhier last effort "in the beggining" is awsome..Recordedin 1995...just barry and frank only orginal members. but they do have a track on there called "set me free" which was all orginal members,it was the last song ever recorded with orginal members. They toured that album but played in night clubs. I did attend that concert in St. Louis and it was very impressive. Thier guitar player sounds very close to punky. LONG LIVE ANGEL!!!! ROCK ON !!!!!

The real story behind punky almost joing kiss is, he was suppose to be the orginal guitarist for kiss. But paul stanley sad no because punky was better looking than paul.

Saw Angel twice as a kid in '77 & '78, at the Mid Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Once with The Godz opening & the other with Molly Hatchet opening. The first show had their FULL stage show (with The Godz opening) and to this day it is still probably the best show that I have ever seen in the 400 plus shows I've been to. The clear boxes the front of the stage with the guys just "appearing" in them was so amazing and then the Angel emblem "coming to life" and speaking..unbelievable. And the amazing Gregg Giuffria was the first keyboard player that I EVER saw with a portable keyboard and DEFINITELY the first keyboard player that ever had a neck on a keyboard with "strings" on it for pitch control!! Revolutionary!! Just listen to The Fortune!! BTW..their show with Molly Hatchet opening, wasn't with their full show. There was a snow storm & some of their trucks didn't make it, so they played a "stripped down" show. Unfortunately I never saw them again after '78. Still in my top 5 bands of all time!

I saw the Philly version of the Godz/ Angel show at the Tower Theater and it was also amazing. I remember a band called Hawkwind opened up for both of them. They shouldn't have been on the bill, they were like Kraftwerk back in the day, computerized/ sytns, etc. Anyway, there was a guy front row center that stood during the entire Hawkwind set with both his middle fingers pointed at the stage until the band had enough and walked off.

Awesome, I've been wanting to hear some of this concert for a long time. I'm curious as to where/when the rest of it may appear? Great band from the mid-late seventies, put on one hell of a show. I saw them open for Styx and even without the special effects they were killer. Meadows was one of my favorite guitar players from those days, had MTV (back when they played music, not the crap they do now) been around when they were, no doubt in my mind they would've been huge. I'd love to hear those live boots from Angel someone mentioned.
