Concert Summary

Recorded on the same 1978 tour that resulted in the Live on the King Biscuit Flower Hour album (released in 1996), these tracks come from the first US tour America undertook as a duo. The previous year, founding member Dan Peek departed to pursue life as a born-again Christian. Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley opted to work as a two-man group, and these recordings are the result of their initial shows.

Included here, in this partial set, is a mix of classic America hits and the new original material the group was promoting. Over all, the slant is toward material that is less…entire summary

I absolutely love America. This band brings so many lovely memories to me... I love the sweetness and kind of naivety of the songs; pure lyrics that say a lot without being pretentious. One of the favourite bands I would love to see live. May be, one day, in Toronto.... Sch.

So Dewey I have been playing 2 of your songs ("Horse with no name" and "Tin Man")among my reportoire of songs for years and then I came to the concert in Orlando Florida in January 2009. My song list is over 50 songs complete and I can send you a copy of it if you like. I brought a lot of claps and fun for those who listened. You even signed my book America in 1989 in Universal Claifornia.I was there when you played after Leo Kokke. Then when I heard you guys were having a concert in Orlando..January 2009. My car was broken and I took the bus with my guitar to that concert.I had fun playing America songs on the bus (the Lymo} with other people singing along. We had so much fun and everyone was dancing in the bus. Then when I asked you to sign my guitar...you turned away and the security guard was very abusive to me. I have since had a Ph.D and still love to play your songs but I think that was rude.It would have taken just a few minutes to sign the guitar for one of greatest fan. Thanks a lot. How weird is it that America, apparently named because they were Americans living in London, and Foreigner, named because they had English and American members in the same band, are right next to each other in the chronological list of concerts? (a) Super weird! (b) Huh? (c) Get a life, nitwit! (d) All of the above
