Concert Summary

Formed in 1970, the Southern California band Ambrosia was first recognized by Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor Zubin Mehta, who featured them in part of his All-American Dream Concert the following year. Inspired by many of the progressive rock bands coming out of England in the early-1970s, the rich harmony arrangements of the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and CSN&Y, as well as the soulful vocals of Motown, Ambrosia blended these elements into an original symphonic pop/rock with a slickly produced sound. By 1975, when they released their debut self-titled album, Ambrosia had developed a…entire summary

Saw the same Buffalo show at Shea's, or was it Kleinhan's? Ambrosia ripped it up, and Little River Band was tight.

saw them in Buffalo, NY. they played before the little river band. I think it was the century theatre, or maybe shea's theatre. However they were wonderful! any recordings for that show?

Mr. Anonymous (Jan. 23) - See you at Mohegan Sun on April 25. I'll be the guy playing sax with them! BTW, Marty Balin will be playing with them.

Ambrosia was and is a great band! I met them in 1990 when my band opened up for them in a small club in San Diego. I kept in touch with them over the years and have become friends with Joe Puerta. Enjoy hanging out with them backstage when they come to Southern California. Long Live Ambrosia! Dave Horn San Diego

I have just loved this band since the early 70's. True fans understand that Ambrosia was much more of a progressive rock band than several of the top 40 ballads that garnered most of the airplay. Too bad David Pack and the band couldn't get back together, Ambrosia makes several stops each year to Mohegan Sun's Wolf Den in southeastern CT. What a great venue for this band. I never miss them anymore, they are gracious, as tight as ever, spend time with the audience after the show and pack the house. Great stuff !
