Concert Summary

Formed in 1970, the Southern California band Ambrosia was first recognized by Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor Zubin Mehta, who featured them in part of his All-American Dream Concert the following year. Inspired by many of the progressive rock bands coming out of England in the early 1970s, the rich harmony arrangements of the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and CSN&Y, as well as the soulful vocals of Motown, Ambrosia blended these elements into original symphonic pop/rock with a slick produced sound. By 1975, when they released their debut self-titled album, the band had developed a strong…entire summary

Would've liked to hear the missing material from the tracks that are posted but still a nice set from Ambrosia. It's funny but I probably have appreciated them more in the past ten years than I did when they were really popular when I was in high school in the late 70s/early 70s.

There is a relatively new concert recording at the Galaxy Theater (2000) that is indistinguishable from the earliest recordings, and their musical skills transcend all genre. All their concerts, even this abbreviated one, are collectible. Andy Pack has a CD out as well, and he acoustically covers all the old stuff, and it is astonishing as well. Sure were great to listening to rolling down I-95 in South Florida back then, on tape.
