Concert Summary

Songwriter, Arranger, Bandleader, Musician, Vocalist, Producer, Performer and Historian cover some of what Al Kooper has simultaneously pursued over the past five decades. Few could lay claim to more consistently captivating results in any one of those challenging occupations.

In terms of the mid-1960s transition from relatively primitive "rock & roll" to the more adventurous and all encompassing "rock" music, Kooper's impact cannot be underestimated. The Butterfield Blues Band and …entire summary

I have been a great fan of Al Kooper for a very long time. His first Blood, Sweat and Tears album still holds up after more than 40 years. "Just one Smile" and "I Can't Quit Her" included in this concert set is a testament to that fact. In addition, his solo work has always been engaging and provocative. If he isn't in the R&R Hall of Fame, he certainly should be nominated for that honor.

What a great performance! Al's book is an incredible read if you're a rock fan. It's called "Backstage Passes and Backstabbing Bastards" . He names names and recalls larger than life situations that just kept on presenting themselves to him. Highly recommended.

This is quite good. Al Kooper has brought us so much tasteful music over the years. Sam Stone hurts. I dig this cat. Thanks, brother. RMcDinGa

Al Kooper is simply incredible, producer, writer, pianist extrodinaire,poet... Is there anything he has left to do in the music field? This acoustic concert only shows how truly talented he is. What is he doing these days?I find it hard to believe he is resting on his laurels.
