How do you calculate shipping and handling rates?
Shipping costs are calculated by our website checkout pages after you enter your Ship To address. In the case of the USA and Canada, a zip or postal code is required before shipping options can be calculated. Your order is placed only after you have had a chance to review the information entered, including shipping costs.
Free UPS Ground shipping is offered on all domestic orders over $50. To qualify for free shipping, you must select the desired free service in the checkout process.
How will you package my order?
We take great care to ensure that your order is carefully packaged so that it arrives in the same mint condition in which it left our facilities.
Most historic series posters are of a size to fit in flats. Posters shipped in flats are surrounded by 2 chipboard inserts. Oversized pieces require tubes and we ship in tubes with a .187 wall – the thickest tube used for such shipping. All photographic prints are shipped in highest quality heavy-duty reinforced cardboard flats. If you have ordered more than one printed item, the items will be packaged together and separated by high quality interleave paper to prevent scratching.
How long will it take for my order to arrive?
All orders placed on this site are subject to product availability. Please allow seven days for our photographic prints to ship (these products are produced to order and require a high degree of printmaking skill and attention to detail). All other items are shipped within three business days of when your order is placed. We do not ship on Saturdays, Sundays or national holidays. All shipping delivery times are in addition to this order processing time.
If your order is going to be delayed due to out-of-stock items, weather conditions or any other factors, you will be notified by email within 48 hours of your order being placed. You will be given an approximate ship date at that time and will have the option of canceling your order, or retaining the order with its new ship date.
Depending on your location and the shipping service you selected, your order will take from one to ten days to be delivered once it has shipped.

International Customers, Please Note. Poster Questions and Answers
Authenticity
Every item in The Vault is a documented original. We have acquired each item from its original artist, the production company that staged the concert, the photographer that took the photograph or the performer that played the music. In some cases, we have purchased from the secondary market only after carefully verifying authenticity and condition. The vast majority of our collection comes from the archives of Bill Graham Presents, which was carefully managed by BGP from 1966 until our acquisition, and is now managed and preserved by The Vault. Upon request, we offer Certificates of Provenance signed by the archivist.
I have seen posters you have on your website offered for lower prices on other sites and in online auctions. Why should I buy from you?
We own the copyright to posters in the BG (Bill Graham), BGP (Bill Graham Presents), F (Fillmore), BGSE (Bill Graham Special Events), FME (Fillmore East), FDN (Fillmore Denver) and many in the Commemorative Series (COMM).
We know what is authentic and what is bootlegged or copied because we own the original negatives and/or printers' plates from which the original posters were printed. Our website presents and sells ONLY original, authentic posters and other concert art. We have observed copied, bootlegged and poor-condition concert art sold in many online stores or auctions. We strongly encourage those who wish to purchase concert art from the period 1965 to 2001 to come to our site because we, and only we, can guarantee the authenticity and condition of items we sell to buyers, a guarantee which comes in most handy when a buyer subsequently wishes to sell their concert memorabilia.
Poster, Ticket and Handbill Printings and Variations
Most 2nd and 3rd printings pertain to posters from the BG (Bill Graham poster series of 1966-71) and the FD (Family Dog poster series of the same time period). Once promoters realized that psychedelic art "collectors" were tearing down the posters advertising their concerts, additional printings had to be run in order to market the shows. Later versions of the posters were sometimes printed for hippie poster shops or to satisfy the poster artist with a changing artistic vision. Most poster printings have very slight variations such as paper stock and size, small notation markings on the poster or different ink colors. Within individual printings, some nuances may occur during the course of a print run such as a change of paper stock or ink. These variations are indicated by the notations of A, B or C. Whenever these differences are significant we always present separate images of these printings on our website (for a good example see BG29).
Is there a difference in quality between 1st and subsequent printings?
"Quality" is a subjective term. As noted in the previous paragraph, different poster printings may be on different paper stock, which one might consider a difference in "quality". You can be certain of one thing; all posters in The Vault, regardless of printing, are in mint condition unless otherwise noted.
What is the difference between a proof and a poster?
A proof is a "test" of the final printing process by the printer to make certain that the four color image is rendering exactly as the artist intended. The final proofs we have available at The Vault are the final step in this process and rare in number. They usually have a color bar along one side of the paper's edge. This should be visible in the image detail for the item.
Will you give me a valuation of my poster collection?
We do not offer valuations for insurance or other purposes.
Does the WV watermark I see on the poster image appear on the poster?
The watermark is strictly an identifying copyright mark for the website photo image.
Do you have posters available that are not displayed on the website?
Wolfgang's Vault has two missions. We are offering our archives for sale to the public, but it is equally important to us to preserve the legacy that these archives represent. In the spirit of this second mission we strive to keep at least one of every item in our possession.
Would you be interested in buying my posters?
We will consider secondary market purchases under very specific conditions. To evaluate items for authenticity and condition we must make a physical appraisal of all potential purchases. Should you wish us to make such an evaluation, please contact Customer Service through the website or telephone so that we may obtain further information as to whether we would consider such a purchase. Should we have an interest, we will ask you to pack all items for shipment to our offices and we will issue a call tag for U.P.S. pick up. Upon conclusion of our inspection we will either make you an offer or return the items at our cost. We do not evaluate items for purchase any other way.
Condition of Product
Virtually all items for sale on our website are in mint condition unless stated otherwise in the product detail or shown by the image. A small number of items were damaged as a result of a fire at the offices of Bill Graham Presents in 1985. We have made every effort to show the extent of the damage on each product in the product detail screen image and will contact you by email or phone should remaining inventory not reflect that condition. Because there is no developed "standard" of condition ranking, we have made it company policy not to make any statements that guarantee condition. What one purchaser might consider "near mint" might be far different from what another views as such. If for some reason the item you purchased does not meet your expectations, you may return it (domestic orders only). Please refer to our Returns and Exchanges policy below.
Returns and Exchanges
We have a ten-day return policy (for domestic orders only). In addition, we guarantee your order against damage that may occur during the shipping process. If your package arrives damaged you should refuse delivery of the package so that it will be returned to us. Please then advise us immediately that you have refused the package. Should you notice the damage after delivery please contact us immediately so that we may start a UPS damage claim. To make a return or exchange, simply contact Customer Service within 10 days of receiving the package and you will be given an RA (Return Authorization) number. Please ensure that the RA number we give you is clearly marked on the outside of your shipping box. Also, pack your return securely. We recommend you use the same packaging materials that it was original shipped in, and that you insure the shipment for your protection. You are responsible for all return shipping costs. COD shipments will not be accepted. We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages. We recommend using a courier that can track your package with a tracking number. Subsequent to an approved authorization, a credit to an account can take up to 30 days.
Photography Questions and Answers
All images on this site are copyrighted.
Photographic prints sold through Wolfgang's Vault are intended for private use only. Your purchase of photographic print(s) does not convey any rights with respect to the copyright of the image. Reproduction, publishing, posting, broadcasting, transmitting or distribution of any purchased photographic print(s), in any commercial or editorial manner, is strictly prohibited.
What are the different categories of photographs that I see on your site?
There are four categories of photography here at the Vault:
-
Fine Art Prints
are the highest quality photographic prints in the Vault, primarily Silver Gelatin, C-Print and Digital Prints (photographs), created with painstaking attention to detail and the craft of printing. These prints are mainly the prints of the master photographers in the vault, including Jim Marshall, Baron Wolman, Michael Zagaris, Joe Sia and Gene Anthony.
-
Bill Graham Archive Prints
The Bill Graham Archive is composed of two primary sources. The first contains very special prints of original concert photographs taken by BGP staff photographers at shows from the early 1970s to today. The second source is Bill Graham's personal collection of original vintage prints by some of the great photographers of the '60s, '70s and '80s.
-
Premium Vintage Prints
are from the archives of our master photographers Jim Marshall, Baron Wolman, Michael Zagaris, Gene Anthony and Joe Sia. Most of these photographs were printed within a year of the original negative.
-
Promo Prints
were part of the press kits handed out to the media as advance advertising for concert tours and record releases.
What are the different print types I see on your site?
There are many different ways to produce a photograph by using different papers, inks and production methods. Our prints are all one of the following:
-
Silver Gelatin
, also referred to on the site as "SG", prints are more commonly known as black and white prints. The term is derived from the gelatin emulsion in the photographic paper, which contains light-sensitive silver salts that react to light exposure. Silver Gelatin photographic papers are available in a wide range of tones and surfaces, from fibre-based to resin coated.
-
C-Print (Chromogenic prints)
are standard color prints made from color negatives. The term chromogenic is from the Greek and means color-forming. C-prints are called color-coupler prints, which refers to the chemistry of the process in which colored dyes are coupled with light-silver compounds.
-
Cibachrome
is a standard color print made from a color slide. The term Cibachrome refers to the trademarked photographic paper Cibachrome as well as the process of making prints with such paper. Cibachromes can generally be distinguished from C-prints on the basis of the ultra-glossy, almost mirror-like reflective quality of the paper and a standard black, rather than white, border. Cibachromes are also distinguished by the especially vivid colors of these prints, which are due to the Azo dyes in the emulsion layers of the cibachrome paper. Cibachrome is a registered trademark of Ilford Photo Corp. Ilford has now renamed the process "Ilfochrome".
-
BG Archive Prints
are high-end photographic prints created with a Polielettronica Laser Lab 76 printer on Fuji Crystal Archive Super Type C Paper. The archival stability for these photos is rated over 100 years in ideal conditions.
-
Lightjet prints
represent the evolution of photographic processes, combining digital resolution and sensitivity with traditional chemical processes to produce a superior archival photograph. Lightjet prints are created using digital negatives and a laser lightsource to expose photosensitive paper. Lightjet Prints have a tremendous dynamic range and color saturation, and have received very good archival ratings from the Wilhelm Institute.
-
RC Prints
, which is short for Resin-Coated prints, are color or black and white photographs printed on a photographic paper that has been coated with polyethylene on both sides. All color photographic papers are printed on RC Paper, and Black and White prints can be printed on either RC or fiber-based paper.
-
Dye Transfer Print.
Once considered the most archival and valuable of color photographic prints, the dye transfer print has a richness of color, depth and fidelity superior to other color photographic processes. Unfortunately, this particular process was also very expensive and labor intensive, and, as a result, the pioneering producer, Kodak, ceased production of all dye transfer print materials in 1994. Since no other company produces these materials, only vintage dye transfer prints are available today.
-
Reproduction.
A reproduction is produced using offset printing on glossy, non-photographic paper. The process is used often for pieces that are mass-produced in large quantities and is not a "photograph" in the classic sense of an image printed by an enlarger on silver gelatin emulsion paper.
How are the Concert Photos produced?
Producing a fine art, high quality, archival photographic print requires the same level of skill, experience, and specialized equipment needed for traditional darkroom printing. We use a very reputable printer in San Francisco to print our color photos. Using a Polielettronica Laser Lab 76 printer made in Italy, the photos are printed on genuine photographic paper (Fuji Crystal Archive Super Type C Paper), which utilizes a traditional chemical process. Our Concert Photos are truly beautiful photographic prints, featuring great life expectancy with color that is rich and continuous in tone. The archival stability is rated over 100 years in ideal conditions.
Our archival ratings are based on research provided by the Wilhelm Research Institute.
Where does The Vault get its Concert Photos?
This exceptional collection of rock concert photos was created by a group of staff photographers working under contract for Bill Graham Presents. As owner of the BGP Archives, we own all rights to these images, some of which extend from the 1970s. You can be certain that a Concert Photo with our stated production specifications will never be available from anyone else at any other time.
How long will it take for my print to arrive?
The Silver Gelatin and color photographs in our Fine Art and Concert Photos collections represent the gold standards of photographic reproduction, and require a high degree of printmaking skill using archival quality paper and inks. This careful attention to detail allows us to provide a premium work of fine art. Please allow 10 days to ship after your order is placed.
All Vintage Prints and Promo Prints are already in stock, and will ship within three business days of when your order is placed.
Where does The Vault get its Vintage Prints?
Our Vintage Prints date from 1990 or earlier, and many of them were produced within one year of the original negative. Each print in The Vault is a slice-of-life view of the rock concert phenomenon taken by legendary photographers like Gene Anthony, Michael Zagaris, Baron Wolman, Jim Marshall and Herb Greene who did more than document the era, they lived it. The subtle signs of aging in some of these prints only add to their veracity. The slight yellowing of a Silver Gelatin print and almost imperceptible loss of true color in color prints are the gentle patina born of age that help make these in-concert shots, portraits and backstage candids of early rockers and their milieu so outstanding.
Tell me more about your Promo Prints
Promo prints are mass-produced photographs of the band or artist that are included in press kits provided to the media. Also called 'publicity stills,' some of these pictures may be familar to aficionados who remember them from magazines or advertising appearing around the time of specific record releases. Many, however, are never-before-seen shots that will thrill the true fan. The Promo Prints in the Vault's collection hail from the 60s through the new century and are truly exceptional portraits of contemporary performers and legends.
Do you license images from the Concert Photos collection for other uses?
We license the use of our Concert Photos originals to television, film and other agencies for advertising or other purposes. Please Contact Us for more information about this new opportunity.
If I'd like a photograph of an artist that I don't see listed in the Concert Photos, is it possible you might have one that is not yet online?
The Concert Photos available at this time are those that we considered to be the very best of the entire collection. Please let us know via the Contact Us page if your favorite artist is not represented. We will consider all requests as we add Concert Photos in the future.
Are there other sizes available for Concert Photo and Fine Art prints?
At this time Concert Photos are only available in two sizes, 11"x14" and 16"x20". If there is sufficient demand for additional sizes, we will make new sizes available.
How should I care for my photograph from The Vault?
It's best to frame your print with a glass or plexiglass protective covering. There are UV-filtered frames available which further protect your print from fading. It's also a good idea to keep your print out of harsh or direct sunlight.
Apparel Questions and Answers
What is the difference between Vintage and Retro Apparel?
At Wolfgang's Vault, Vintage Apparel is defined as a garment created for and made at the time of a particular event or performance. Most vintage apparel in The Vault comes from the archives of Bill Graham Presents (BGP). The archive was carefully managed by BGP from 1966 until our recent acquisition, and has been stored since the event with which it's associated. Some of our vintage apparel comes from the home closet of the promoter, a stagehand or the photographer who shot the original event.
Our Retro Apparel is made from a vintage design and was produced subsequent to the original event or concert. Our Retro t-shirts are made using the finest jersey cotton giving you the softest, smoothest t-shirt around. These shirts are designed to fit like they did in the 70's and 80's, tailored to the body for a more youthful fit. Be sure to check out our sizing chart to help assure that you'll get the perfect fit on the first try.
Do you have sizing charts for your apparel?
We have sizing charts for Retro Apparel, but not for Vintage Apparel. Scroll down to see these sizing charts.
How do your Retro sizes compare to other manufacturer's t-shirt sizes?
For our standard retro t-shirts we recommend that you order a size or two larger, as they are smaller and more fitted than most apparel produced today. Our Full Cut t-shirts offer a bit more breathing room so you shouldn't need to go up in size with these. The quality and feel remain the same. As with any fine jersey cotton t-shirt, you should expect your shirt to shrink by about 5-7% after its first wash and dry.
Why Don't You Post Vintage Apparel Measurements?
We do not give size dimensions specifically as each year and manufacturer brings style and sizing variations. Our Vintage Apparel is noted as (Vintage) next to the size, and was produced at the time of the event or concert with which it is associated. True to the era, Vintage apparel tends to be smaller in size (1 to 2 sizes smaller) than apparel produced today and may show the effect of 20 or more years of storage. All non-vintage t-shirts adhere to current USA standards of size.
How should I care for my Retro t-shirt?
We recommend that you machine wash Retro t-shirts in warm or cold water and tumble dry on a Low setting. As with any fine jersey cotton t-shirt, you should expect your shirt to shrink by about 5-7% after its first wash and dry.

International Customers, Please Note. International Customers are subject to their respective country's customs fees, including Country and/or Province taxes, duty fees based on the value of goods purchased, and Customs Brokerage Fees. Customs Fees assessed on purchased goods are based upon the laws of the respective country, and Wolfgang's Vault has no control over these charges. It is your responsibility to comply with these laws and to pay these fees if they are billed to you by your country or by UPS.
We will not accept any returns, and we will not refund any lost, refused or abandoned orders outside of the United States. We will, however, file a claim with UPS and will refund applicable monies to you only when and if we receive payment from UPS.
Other Questions
Authenticity
Every item in Wolfgang's Vault is a documented original, unless otherwise noted (for example, our retro tees and retro pins are reissues of vintage designs that were produced subsequent to the original event or concert). We have acquired each vintage item from its original artist, the production company that staged the concert, the photographer that took the photograph or the performer that played the music. In some cases, we have purchased from the secondary market only after carefully verifying authenticity and condition. The vast majority of our collection comes from the archives of Bill Graham Presents which was carefully managed by BGP from 1966 until we acquired the archive in 2002. Upon request, we offer Certificates of Provenance signed by our archivist.
Product Availability
Wolfgang's Vault has two missions. We are offering our archives for sale to the public, but it is equally important to us to preserve the legacy that these archives represent. In the spirit of this second mission we strive to keep at least one of every item in our possession.
On rare occasions we will receive an order for an item that is listed as available for sale, only to find that we have just one left in the archive. When this happens we immediately remove it from the site, and notify you via email of the items in your order that are unavailable. You will of course only be charged for the items shipped. We apologize if our policy to withhold last-remaining items from sale causes you disappointment.
Check/Money Order customers, please note: Personal checks and money orders must clear before your order can be processed. We do not ship or reserve items until checks/money orders have cleared. As many of our items are one of a kind, we cannot guarantee that your item will be in stock once your check/money order has cleared. If your item goes out of stock between the time you place your order and the time your payment has cleared, your payment will be refunded.

International Customers, please be aware that you may be subject to various Import Customs Fees and Taxes beyond the normal shipping fees charged by Wolfgang's Vault. Please note that these charges vary from country to country, and are your responsibility. For more information, please see our answers to Purchase, Return & Exchange Questions.
Condition of Product
Virtually all items for sale on our website are in mint condition. A small number of items have condition flaws or were smoke damaged as a result of a fire at the offices of Bill Graham Presents in 1985 and we have made every effort to show the extent of damage in the product detail screen image. Because there is no developed "standard" of condition ranking, we have made it company policy not to make any statements that guarantee condition. What one purchaser considers "near mint" might be far different from what another views as such. If for some reason the item you purchase does not meet your expectations, you may return it.
Returns and Exchanges
Wolfgang's Vault has a ten-day return policy on all items (domestic orders only). In addition, we guarantee your order against damage that may occur during the shipping process. If your package arrives damaged you should refuse delivery and contact us immediately so that we may begin a damage claim with UPS. You can get in touch with us by visiting the Contact Us page on this website or by calling Toll Free 1 (866) 650-0810 or Direct 1 (415) 543-1266. You will be given instructions regarding this process and the damaged items will be reimbursed or replaced once the claim has been finalized.
To return or exchange an item you must contact us within 10 days of receiving your shipment. When you do we will give you an RA (Return Authorization) number. Please ensure that the RA number we give you is clearly marked on the outside of your shipping box. Also, pack your return securely. We recommend you re-use the original packaging materials and that you insure the shipment for your protection. You are responsible for all return shipping costs. COD shipments will not be accepted. We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages and recommend using a courier that can track your package with a tracking number. Items returned for credit must be received in the original condition in which they were shipped by Wolfgang's Vault. Subsequent to inspection, a return credit to an account can take up to 30 days.
Should an exchange be possible (based on product availability), after receipt and inspection of the returned item the exchanged item will be shipped.

Do you offer discounts?
Every item in the Wolfgang's Vault is a documented original and cannot be recreated as such. Therefore our policy is no discounts under any circumstances.
Do you offer framing services?
No, we do not. By shipping posters, photography and other flat art unframed and packaged flat in within heavy-duty chipboard inserts we ensure that your order will arrive safely and without damage. When available, these will be shipped in their original frames, and packaged appropriately.
Does the WV watermark I see on the poster image appear on the poster?
The watermark is strictly an identifying copyright mark for the website photo image.

We do not offer valuations for insurance or other purposes.
