Concert Summary

It's kind of hard to take A Flock of Seagulls too seriously, with those remarkable haircuts and the way-out fashion the band effectively introduced when they first came onto the music scene in the early 1980s. In any case, an interesting crowd must have been assembled for this 1983 performance at the Metro in Boston, recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour during the Flock's first U.S. tour.

Although the band did score a few hits and forged some definite in-roads as presenters of catchy new wave pop songs, it was hard…entire summary

Great Concert on Paul Reynold Birthday. This is a concert from their first Tour in 1982 (Not 1983 as listed above). The second LP "Listen" came out in May 1983 (That is why they say in the Concert "This song will be on our coming album." The Band was a lot better than people give them credit for - Very Original.

This is the time period for their peak live performances. Great show! Nowadays Score's vocals leave a lot to be desired, sort of like he's not trying. Or it could be that he hates "I Ran" so much that he purposely sabatoges the vocals. He's publicly stated his hatred for that song, much to the dismay of their fans.

overall, a British punk sound on some songs - very underrated band - better than half the crap these days

these guys were a damn good band but because of they're name and they're look, they are written off as somewhat of a joke but they were pretty good

I agree, the visual image eclipsed the talent that the band had. Many of the songs still caould be considered to be 'contemporary pop' without being dismissed as dated.

They were definitely more skilled than they were ever given credit for...kinda of like the Human League. Flock is still a touchstone moment in my life, I regret I never got to see them in their heyday...
