A Flock of Seagulls

Started by hairdressers Mike Score and bassist Frank Maudsley, the band was augmented by the additions of Score's brother Ali on drums and Paul Reynolds on guitar to form the initial lineup of A Flock of Seagulls. Although the band did score a few hits and forged some definite in-roads as presenters of catchy new wave pop songs, it's kind of hard to take A Flock of Seagulls too seriously, with those remarkable haircuts and the way-out fashion the band effectively introduced when they first came onto the music scene in the early 1980s.

Sadly, this problem would ultimately plague the band in everything they tried to accomplish. They had other minor hits after their intitial success, but by the later half of the 1980s, their popularity had all but waned. The band was reformed some years later for a VH1 reality TV show, Putting the Band Back Together. They still continue to tour, but sadly most of the members have had considerable hair loss since the heyday of the band.
